About

I am a wife, mother, reader, and 5th grade self-contained teacher in Maryland. I am passionate about reading and literacy and use every chance I get to share my passions with my students and anyone who will listen. I’ve been reading many literacy blogs for a while now, but I am not so good at creating my own. Be patient…I’m learning. 🙂

  1. I will follow your reading blog. This is just another indicator of your love of teaching others to love reading! You go!
Please follow my blog: www,professionalgraceandeverydayetiquette.blogspot.com It’s the longest blog name on the web!

  2. Way to go Christy! I’m very excited that you are embarking on this new blogging journey. I am still acclimating to my new school with all of its new technology, but blogging is on my list 2012 Bucket List.

Two years ago I began arranging my classroom library by fiction or non-fiction. I am slowly breaking it down by genre now. I do see that the boys are drawn toward non-fiction more than the girls. History is the preferred choice of most. Like you, I use my Scholastic bonus points to expand the classroom library. If you’ve not seen the new Scholastic book order (Amazing History) let me know and I will have Brian bring some order forms to you! It has a wonderful assortment of high interest materials for our non-fiction fans!

Happy New Year and best of luck blogging!
    Germaine
